Your goal is to strengthen and grow your organization, by implementing the recommendations in Land Trust Standards & Practices. Your success in this effort will be recognized when you successfully  apply for Accreditation.  How can The BAM Team assist you in this transformational action?

First, through facilitation of your Guided Organizational Assessment.   All land trusts seeking Accredited status are required to have completed an assessment against the full set of Land Trust Standards & Practices, the Land Trust Alliances guidebook for running an effective land trust organization.  However, this assessment can offer you benefits beyond eligibility for accreditation application.  A well-done, thoughtfully approached assessment will engage the Board, prioritize governance actions, and provide an opportunity to evaluate how your programs and policies and procedures are working together as a functional whole.  The completed assessment becomes a benchmark against which you can measure your growth and achievements.

Second, in consulting and coaching on specific Standards & Practices.  The Guided Organizational Assessment will pinpoint which policies, procedures, and organizational practices will need to be  strengthened.  Our team has collective expertise and experience with all 12 Standards as they are implemented in land trusts large-The Nature Conservancy-and small-the Driftless Area Land Conservancy.  You'll have access to all three of us to help answer questions, develop policies, implement procedures, and other steps necessary to prepare you for the final step...

completing the Accreditation application and compiling supporting documents.  Land trusts who have successfully completed the application and review process tell us that it takes several hundred hours to answer the application questionnaire, compile responses and supporting documents into the final application binder, provide avenues for public comment and review their application before submission.  That can be weeks of one full-time staff person working solely on your application!  We can help you streamline this work, and identify ways to maximize efficiency of documentation and reporting, allowing your Board and staff to continue doing their important land conservation and organizational development work.
